Oxenfree is one of the most surreal experiences in gaming. I made this scene to celebrate the launch of Oxenfree II: Lost Signals in a few weeks. This is my take on what the first game would look like in a 3D realistic style.
It was a challenge to get the lighting and the colors to match the reference, and after a lot of tweaking, I'm happy with the result. Fog, fake particles, depth of field, chromatic aberration and a lot of grain complement the look.
I animated the camera to look handheld, as well as the particles and the triangle and water displacement. I made it all loop as icing on the cake.
The entire scene is 23,257 tris, without counting the water, that I had to subdivise a lot to get the displacement I wanted; and the wardrobe is only 526 tris.
